As we approach the end of the year, many people start to feel the need to give. A tradition in many cultures going back as far as written history, the act of brightening someone’s day in the darkest days of the year is a great way to keep spirits high. As many of you like to donate to charity, whether it be time or money, we wanted to share a few local charities to help people in the area. Please take a few minutes to check them out and see what you can do to brighten the lives of some local families.
The Center for Human Development, or CHD, offers two programs here in Amherst benefiting local families and children. The Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Hampshire County provides opportunities to local children in need. Their Family Outreach of Amherst program helps local families in need.
Our neighbor, the Amherst Survival Center, is another great program for helping local families and people in need. Their amazing donation services allow you to donate unwanted items that can help locals who need to replace lost or damaged items, as well as providing clothing and food to those who otherwise couldn’t access them. As we reach the colder months, this becomes an especially important program. Check them out to learn more about ways you can donate your unwanted items, clothing, time or other ways and brighten everyone’s day!
